Amazing PSD UI Web design elements

I’m a big believer in not reinventing the wheel when it comes to web design. If someone has already created something that fits what you need and/or want, and especially if that element is available for free, then why waste your time designing something that turns out virtually identical?

Your time and effort is better spent on creating new and unique parts of your design, while using what’s already available for other parts. Below are more than 50 free UI element packs from a variety of designers. Buttons, form elements, media players, and similar stock elements are the most popular, though there are other elements included also.

And as a bonus, there are over half a dozen premium element packs at the end. Enjoy!

New Google Hotel Finder

Google’s entry into the hotel business is shaping up — literally. Google is testing Google Hotel Finder, a tool that enables you to edit shapes within an area of a city to depict where you might want to stay, and delivers Google Places reviews and advertisements from online travel agencies to book the properties. Google Hotel Finder, launched as an experiment in the U.S. only, has some googlish features which appear to be unique. You access the tool here and if you click on or enter “Las Vegas,” you’ll see a listing of 60 hotels and an image to the left to depict the spotlighted area like this:

Official: IE Users Have a Lower IQ!

This will please many web developers. A recent survey by AptiQuant, a psychometric consulting company based in Canada, has concluded that Internet Explorer users have a lower Intelligence Quotient than users of other browsers. Those with IE6 scored little over 80. Firefox, Chrome and Safari users fared better at 110. The most intelligent people — with an average IQ of 125 — use Opera (that’ll please their marketing department!)  The 2011 assessment sampled 101,326 individuals over the age of 16 from the US, Canada, UK, Australia and New Zealand. The company offered a free IQ test which most participants found via organic search results or PPC advertising campaigns. Subjects were not aware their browser preference was being monitored.
